Ars Electronica 2020

Final Immersify demonstration at Ars Electronica 2020

Due to pandemic restrictions, the final demonstration was done as 8K streaming from the PSNC New Media Laboratory (Poznań) to Ars Electronica Future Labs (Linz), presented during Ars Electronica 2020 Festival. Streamed content was displayed in Deep Space the advanced visualization center. In addition to 8k streaming, the event was broadcast in the form of a 360 video with ambisonic sound to YouTube.

During presentation, an interactive audiovisual installation was presented, displaying 360° video content with a resolution of 16K. This installation consisted of a six-meter screen with 8K resolution, a multi-channel sound system (24 speakers) and an Xbox controller. Thanks to this, user was able to control the currently displayed part of image – change the viewing angle, zoom in and out. Due to special software based on Higher order ambisonics, sound layer was reflecting video movements. During the demonstration, experimental audiovisual content implemented as part of the project was presented: a concert by Anomalia, a concert by Noise and Structure, a laser scan of a nuclear shelter, a concert by Krambabula.

Immersify is an R&D project was financed by Horizon 2020 program. Activities were carried out in the years 2017-2020 at the New Media Laboratory in cooperation with Ars Electronica Future Labs, Spin Digital, Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes, Visualization Center C.
