Ambisonic recordings of the Luxtorpeda Concert
One of the most interesting challenges was recording the Luxtorpeda concert in such a way that it could be played in the form of ambisonic sound. Opportunity to collaborate on the recording was the LuxFest Festival, which took place in July 2019. At that time, PSNC recorded concert in the formula of VR recordings with ambisonic sound.
Due to the inability to build our own microphone set, we had to base the implementation only on an ambisonic microphone and concert recordings obtained from a sound engineer. We mainly wanted to recreate the full stage atmosphere, where, combined with 360° video, the viewer would have the impression that he is between the band and the audience.
We placed ambient microphone with 360° camera at the edge of the stage. This setting avoided placing the microphone in the array of the main speaker system. The most interesting surround sound effects were achieved when the audience was singing the songs.
