Concert of jazz band Anomalia

As part of the research and development project Immersify, we recorded a series of experimental ambisonic recordings and multi-channel sound projection at Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center. A jazz band called Anomalia (members of which are students of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań) was invited to take part in the project. The audio content recorded by the band was mixed in a spherical ambisonic studio created by 24 loudspeakers in the New Media Laboratory of PSNC. In addition to the sound recordings, 8K and 360° videos were produced to show Anomalia’s performance.

In the sound recording we used a Sennheiser Ambeo soundfield microphone to create a general recording plan in the first order ambisonics. In addition, each of the instruments was recorded using classic instrument microphones. In the post-production, both sound sources were mixed in the 3rd, 5th and 7th order ambisonics.
